The ilDance team travelled to Tharros for the first Dancing Histor(y)ies workshop at the site.

Over the course of three immersive days, the workshop in Tharros provided a comprehensive exploration of the region's rich cultural heritage, weaving together threads of tradition, history, and community.

The first day of the Dancing Histor(y)ies workshop in Tharros immersed participants in the vibrant culture and traditions of the Cabras community. Activities included engaging with the local Barefoot runners group, meeting elderly members to hear their stories, and visiting an elderly fassonis master to learn about the ancient boat-making craft. The afternoon session at the Multipurpose Center featured interactive demonstrations by various local groups, including the Civic School of Music and Folk Associations. The day concluded with a cultural dinner, highlighting traditional cuisine and the history of the Sinis marine protected area.

The day ended with a cultural dinner at Torregrande beach, offering traditional dishes and desserts while enjoying the sunset view of Tharros from the sea.

The final day in Oristano was dedicated to discovering the connection between Tharros and the surrounding area. Activities included visiting the Diocesan Museum, where the link between Oristano and Tharros was explored through ancient chronicles and exhibitions. The day also featured a guided visit to the exhibition of historical costumes and a workshop on creating paper "rosettes" for the Sartiglia tradition. The workshop provided opportunities for interaction, dialogue, and reflection on the shared cultural heritage of the region.

Dancing Histor(y)ies served not only as a platform for cultural exchange but also as a testament to the resilience and richness of Cabras' heritage. As the team departed, they carried with them not just memories but a renewed sense of connection to the tapestry of traditions that define this wonderful region. ilDance will perform at Tharros heritage site as part of the Dancing Histor(y)ies festival on 12th of July 2024.
