Dancing Histor(y)ies: Final Performance at the Gothenburg Festival

ilDance spent time in Gothenburg this May, where artists continued their creative residency. During their stay, they had the opportunity to engage in a workshop with Balettakademien, creating meaningful artistic exchange, collaboration, exploration and development.

As the Dancing Histor(y)ies project comes to a close this month, the artists return to Gothenburg to take part in its final performance, ready to share their journey, experiences, and artistic reflections with the audience.

The Gothenburg Festival hosts a series of exciting events leading up to the finale. On August 29, the artists will have a workshop in collaboration with Balettakademien, followed by Gaga classes on August 30, led by Lee Brummer. On that same day, artists will be on stage for the final performance: “A Moment of Endlessness”, taking place at Gathenhielmska Huset.

The performance reflects on how stories and histories, both distant and near, gain or lose meaning, depending on the contexts in which they are reiterated. Incorporating text by Hayim Nahman Bialik and Kohelet (Ecclesiastes), “A Moment Of Endlessness” explores senses and sensations of time and how it can be pulled, morphed and transformed through relations and relationships. The performance is free, but registration is required. Tickets for the performance and Gaga classes will be available on August 15.

The performance and festival is realised in collaboration with Göteborgs Kulturkalas.

Dancing Histor(y)ies is co-funded by the European Union.
