I.Aloni Experience Workshop by Israel Aloni

Israel Aloni, will lead a two-day movement research workshop, sharing their practice The I.Aloni Experience, taking place on October 10–11 at Zō Centro Culture Contemporanee in Catania, Italy.

Two workshops are open to participants - dancerѕ, performers, and musicianѕ - from diverse experiences and backgrounds.

The practice works with movement, philosophy and psychology to enrich the experience of the practitioners through attentiveness to corporeality (physical being) and its relation to the psyche (personhood) and the surrounding (the world). The session is led as a guided improvisation where there is no importance to form or shape, rather to the encounters between the practitioners and the information which Aloni shares through the session.

Following the I.Aloni Experience session, the day will include a number of group improvisation sessions and physical experimentations, followed by collective reflections and collective knowledge production.

The workshop will explore various relations and dynamics between individual and collective and experiment with different strategies to negotiate the dynamics between individual desires and the collective well being. The workshops will explore how space and time are mediums for uttering and negotiation, while refining both individual agency and accountability in a group context.

Throughout the workshop, references from art, culture, philosophy, discourse, politics and public affairs are introduced to layer the way we refer to the subject matter. There is a specific methodological progression in the complexity and the depth which the workshop's participants are invited to process throughout the two days. Both of these dimensions of the workshop will be mainly informed by the participants and the identified interests and necessities in the group of participants.

On Saturday, October 11 at 16:00, there will be a public sharing of the process.

The workshops are for dancerѕ, performers, and musicianѕ, minimum 16 years of age and will take place on October 10–11 at the Zō Centro Culture Contemporanee in Catania, Italy.

Participants number is limited to 15 hence early registration is required. Admission is free, application is required to participate.
