ilDance Event

Let’s come together for a day of Dance-ing!

An opportunity to spend time together and experience dance in different ways – dancing, watching, listening, talking and simply being.

We need events that bring us together around something shared. Dance can be that!

We are launching a new initiative: a series of events that create space to connect, be a  community and engage with dance - all in one place, over a single day.

The first ilDance Event takes place on May 17, 2026, at CCAP in Stockholm

The day includes:

  • Gaga/people class led by Lee Brummer

  • Work in progress sharing of a new piece titled Intimacy/Intimidation by Israel Aloni in collaboration with the creative cast,

  • An artist talk about intimacy and consent in contemporary dance and performance practices, addressing the body, the human(e), the inhuman(e), the singular and the collective, with guest artists Johanna Willig-Rosenstein, Robin Jonsson, and Luca Tomaselli, moderated by Israel Aloni,

  • A low-key party with music by DJ Johannes Lind, drinks and good vibes

Gaga/people class:

Lee Brummer will lead a Gaga/people class. Gaga/people is based on a deep activation of the body and physical sensations. While class instructions often use rich imagery that stimulate the imagination, the layering of information builds into a multisensory, physically challenging experience. The class is limited to 24 people.

Work in progress sharing:

Israel Aloni has been working on a new project titled Intimacy/Intimidation, exploring the limits and formations of inter-personal relations. This piece bends the borders between fear of the Other and the desire to get close to them. In a world post global pandemic, continuous reminders of the urgency of Me Too, constant demonisation of the Other, transition into contactless interpersonal relations, and at the same time rising yearning for connection, Aloni explores if and how we can reconcile these seemingly contradicting urges.

In this session, Israel Aloni and their collaborator Luca Tomaselli,  will share the very early stages of the research process after a 2 week residency at Danscentrum Syd in Malmö, supported by Konstnärsnämnden.

Theme of the artist talk:

During the artist talk, dancer Johanna Willig-Rosenstein, choreographer, producer and sound-artist Robin Jonsson and dancer - maker artists Luca Tomaselli join Israel Aloni for a conversation on intimacy and consent in contemporary dance and performance practices. Together they will share their thoughts and experiences on questions such as:

How close are we allowed to get to each other?

How close is too close?

We long for intimacy while also wanting to feel safe and secure, how do we negotiate these potentially opposing desires?

Willig-Rosenstein will share the experience of working in the context of a group, as a dancer in Cullberg, and particularly in the process of EXPOSURE in which the company also collaborated with an intimacy coordinator. Jonsson will share his ways of inciting intimacy and empathy when working with nonhuman performers (robots) and nonphysical realities (virtual). Tomaselli will share insight from the early stages of research and development of a piece specifically dedicated to the limits of intimacy between performers and audience.

The ilDance Event will take place at CCAP - Körsbärsvägen 9, NB, 114 23 Stockholm.
