Marco Merenda (they/them) is a German-Italian performance maker and choreographer based between Stockholm and Hamburg. Their artistic practice moves between choreography, performance, dramaturgy and physical theatre, bridging autobiographical experiences with collective and political contexts. Through a queer, in-yer-face aesthetic, their work challenges heteronormative and patriarchal structures, exploring the body as a site of resistance, vulnerability and transformation while imagining new forms of togetherness.
Their artistic training includes acting studies at Accademia del Teatro Oscar, directing studies at Civica Scuola di Teatro Paolo Grassi (Milan), and a Viewpoints intensive with Ellen Lauren (SITI Company). They hold a BA in English and German Studies from the University of Pavia (2017) and an MA in Performance Studies from the University of Hamburg (2022). They are currently pursuing an MA in Choreography at Stockholm University of the Arts (SKH).
Their work has been presented internationally at venues and festivals including Kampnagel, Zentralwäscherei, Hošek Contemporary, Ringlokschuppen Ruhr, MAI Montréal, Ecosistem Festival (Bucharest) and Torino Fringe Festival.
