M: Kaddish For the Children is a visual performance work that re-imagines the classic Medea story from the woman’s perspective. It draws from the classic Euripides’ Medea text, The Voyage of the Argo by Apollonius of Rhodes and the Kaddish (the Jewish Mourner’s Prayer).
ilDance’s director, Israel Aloni, worked in collaboration with Deborah Leiser-Moore and Richard Moore on a new and alternative adaptation to the classic Medea.
Aloni developed the movement and choreography for the piece which presents a fresh view on the classical story and shifts the Medea’s experience.
M: Kaddish For The Children is not another way to tell history but rather an opportunity to tell herstory.
Venue: Footscray Community Arts Centre Performance Space, 45 Moreland Street, Footscray, Victoria
